- I hadn't seen her for two years. Oh, we texted, emailed and called with some irregularity. She admitted that her job was boring, so she had quit and gone to the police academy. We came home, such as it was, in the early part of the summer before my senior year. Neither of us planned on staying long, as I had a summer job in Colorado with the Forest Service. She was starting with the Omaha Police Department.
- I was very happy to see her. Actually, embarrassingly so as soon as I hugged her, I got hard. Knew she felt it, but I hoped she wouldn't say anything.
